Despite best efforts, disputes can arise in estate cases. The traditional dispute resolution method - the Courts - are choked up, expensive and time consuming to access. This talk will explore alternative ways that have developed to resolve estate disputes - mediation and arbitration. We will discuss what these alternative resolution methods are, and tips for success in the processes.
About the Speaker The Hon. Kristine Eidsvik, KC
The Hon. Kristine Eidsvik, KC has been involved in legal dispute resolution for over 40 years. She has handled estate disputes as a trial lawyer, judge, and now as an independent mediator/arbitrator. Kristine has an independent arbitration and mediation practice in the commercial and civil dispute areas after retiring from sitting on the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta for 15 years. Prior to her appointment, Kristine was a commercial litigation partner with Bennett Jones, LLP. She had also been a partner with Fraser Milner Casgrain (now Denton’s), where she had a diverse civil litigation practice, and for many years, led the litigation group locally and nationally.
